Parish Council - Message from Fr Paul

We hosted an initial meeting earlier this week to consider more fully the role of a Parish Pastoral Council. It was an interactive and informative meeting facilitated by Bridie Stringer, who is known to many in our parish community, who has a lot of experience in guiding parishes to work more effectively and collaboratively. I know there were a few parishioners who would have liked to have been present, but were unable to attend. To that end, we are planning to host another evening to continue to our planning. I am also using this time to consider approaching people who may have the requisite gifts and charisms to serve on the council. I am doing this through a means of prayerful consideration and soliciting advice.

If you are keen to know more our next meeting will be held on Thursday 24th October from 7 - 9 pm in the church hall.

CAFOD Family Fast Day

4th October -  No one should be beyond reach of the love & support they need to thrive. CAFOD invites us to fast, pray & give, so we can extend the hand of friendship to the world’s poorest people. Fabiano’s village in rural Uganda has been devastated by drought. Every day, children would trek miles for water, risking their education & safety. Donations from parishioners across England & Wales helped install a solar powered water pump in the village. Now Fabiano & his friends can collect water quickly & safely. On Family Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to eat a simple meal for lunch or dinner & give the money we save to help children like Fabiano. A Fast Day envelope is available in the porch. Please give generously or you can donate online at www.cafod.org.uk/fastday Thank you.

October - the month of the Holy Rosary
The month of October is a month customarily dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Rosary, with its sequence of prayers and mysteries, is a Christ-centred Gospel prayer, which we say in union with the Blessed Mother. As we also commence the Extraordinary Mission Month, please offer the Rosary each day for the Church’s mission both at home and abroad. Learn how to say the Rosary with our handy and downloadable guide..
