Bishop Philip Egan's Visit

Bishop Philip will be celebrating Mass with us at Sacred Heart for his Visitation on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December (2nd Sunday of Advent). He will celebrate both Masses and the visit will conclude with a Holy Hour for vocations and Benediction at 12.45 pm on Sunday (revised time). Bishop Philip will also be available to hear confessions on Saturday evening from 5 pm—5:45 pm.

Imminent Events & Reminders

1.  THIS SATURDAY - Advent Prayer Afternoon.  On Saturday 30th November, from 2-5pm we will host an an afternoon of prayer and reflection for Advent to which you are warmly invited.  More details below.

Advent Workshop Sunday 1st December 2019 11 am-1 pm (at the back of the church after Mass) All children welcome! 

3.  Day by day booklets.  These are available in the porch. There will be a charge of £1.00 per booklet, please place the money in the wall box just inside the church

4.  Flower Collection -  There will be a second collection for church flowers on the weekend of 14th and 15th December. A collection is taken up each year at Christmas and then again at Easter. The money collected is used all year round to keep the altar and the church looking beautiful.

Advent Afternoon of Prayer and Reflection

On Saturday 30th November, from 2-5pm we will host an an afternoon of prayer and reflection for Advent to which you are warmly invited. This would be a great way to prepare spiritually for one of the most important seasons in the Church's year. Once again Fr Paul has invited his friends from the Verbum Dei community to host the afternoon, which will include a talk on the spirituality of Advent, a workshop on prayer, silence and sharing in small groups.

Advent Workshop

Advent Workshop Sunday 1st December 2019 11 am-1 pm (at the back of the church after Mass) All children welcome! We will be exploring The Jesse Tree, finding out about Jesus’ family tree and sharing Old Testament readings on the prophets .

Success of Caritas Fundraiser

Wow!  An amazing amount of £577.00 was raised over the weekend thank you to Jill Blackburn, Claire Burroughs, Helena Ranson and their team for all their hard work.

Christmas Cards

After certain Masses please come along to the hall for tea and coffee and to see our collection of Christmas Cards, Advent Calendars and other Christmas items. Which are all available at very reasonable prices.

Knights of St Columba

Mass for Deceased Members of the Knights of St. Columba Monday 9th December at 7.30 pm in Sacred Heart, Hook followed by the Annual Christmas Carol Social Evening in the parish hall after Mass. All Sacred Heart Parishioners are most welcome. 

Christmas Tableau

Saturday 21st December at 3:00 pm This year again all the children and young people of the parish have been warmly invited by the dear Sisters in the Convent to present a Christmas tableau and sing carols. This is a very happy occasion and gives us an opportunity to do something good for the residents and Sisters. Father Christmas has promised to come with his sled. Please come, costumes will be provided. We would be grateful if you could come at 3:00 pm to put on your costumes. Singers will also be very welcome. For more information contact Mary Bone

Toy Drive

 For the past 5 years a team from Tesco’s Chineham have been collecting items suitable for Christmas Presents to give the Children of Basingstoke and surrounding areas who would otherwise not be receiving a present this Christmas. Over the next few weeks there will be a box in the church porch for any donations. We are collecting any suitable gifts for all ages from 0 to 19 years, even a bar of chocolate when put with a pair of gloves is well received.


Each year Coats4Calais provides warm clothing for the refugees in Calais throughout the winter months. This is an opportunity for you to clear your wardrobes of your unwanted coats, jackets, scarves, hats and gloves. Joe Shevlin will be collecting your donated items between 14th November and 15th December. Your donations will be very much appreciated.
