World Day of Prayer
Rise, take your mat and walk Women, men and children of all ages are called to 'Rise, take your mat and walk' to join this day of prayer.* Women of Zimbabwe have prepared this year's service and they encourage us all to reflect on the difficulties and unrest that have plagued their country over many years. They share the challenges they have met and the hopes they have for the future. They encourage us to 'Rise, take your mat and walk' with them as they continue their often turbulent journey towards full reconciliation.

Please click the button to see the press release for World Day of Prayer 2020 which is taking place at Rotherwick on Friday March 6th at 2 pm with refreshments afterwards. All are welcome.

Melfort Old Peoples Home

An Indian Supper was held on Saturday 1st February after Mass in aid of the Melfort old Peoples Home in Zimbabwe. This is the Sacred Heart's third world adopted project. About 50 members attended and the evening was enjoyed by everyone. A big thank you to Jill Blackburn, Richard Sugden and all the helpers who made the supper so successful along with a Raffle and a Quiz. A very big thank as well to all who attended and to all who donated towards the MOPH. A Sum of £1335.50 was raised for the home and this will help considerably with essentials, medication and electricity there.

Thanks also to Richard Sugden who has documented the event here and provided these photos.

Caritas
For those who are working, but perhaps would still be keen to support Caritas and our local community, we are holding a meal at The Bolton Arms in Old Basing. This is on Saturday 14th March '20 at 7.30 pm. The tickets cost £25.00 for a three course meal and need prepaying so that I can pay the pub in advance. As soon as the owner realised the charity work that I was doing was for helping his local community in difficulties, he offered the whole of his restaurant to us to raise money - on a Saturday night too! I have a balance of 20 tickets available.
