Save the date – on the 27th September at 7:30pm (Rosary at 7pm), a special Mass is being celebrated soon at Sacred Heart. The period between 27th – 29th September has been designated National Prayer Weekend. In celebration of this event, the Sacred Heart will be hosting a special Mass at 7.30 p.m. on Friday 27th September (Rosary at 7pm). The Carmelites at Boars Hill Priory in Oxford have kindly accepted our invitation and will speak to us of the healing and empowering effects of prayer in our lives. The Caritas Summer Holiday Club will soon be upon us and will be fun filled days of crafting and sporting fun. There will also be a BBQ on the Friday to which all the family members are invited. We are running a Holiday Club at St Bede’s Primary School for those children who will not have a holiday this year. On Saturday 6th, July we celebrated Thy Kingdom Come in a way that felt uniquely “Sacred Heart”. We painted rocks, wrote prayers on special cards impregnated with seeds, received blessings from Father Paul and then planted everything in a special flowerbed at the front of the Church.Father Paul then blessed the plot of land and said prayers to mark the spot and the occasion. On Saturday, 24th November following an invite from Father Paul, Sacred Heart Church hosted an afternoon of prayer, song and worship with a focus on how to pray with the bible. Father’s friend  (Sr) Valentina Stilo is a consecrated missionary of the Verbum Dei (Word of God) community and also Catholic chaplain to the University of Southampton lead the event. Posada is an old Mexican tradition where young people dressed as Mary and Joseph travelled from house to house asking for a room for the night and telling people about the imminent arrival of Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
